Solomon Arford's death at St Loos, court docket for Greene Circuit with twenty four divorce cases, James McDonald’s arson sentencing, and local firms listing in Odon alongside a visitors’ business notices and Belwood area enterprises.
John Mumaw, who has efficiently managed Madison township for four years, turns the duties over to Willis A. Sims. Mumaw has served honestly and commendably. Sims previously trustees Bogard township and steps into the role as an experienced leader. Friends wish him a successful term.
Reverend Turney to preach at the Christian church with special music and observance of the Lords Supper. Effort is underway to have every member present and all are invited.
Monday Mr and Mrs P S Ward marked their golden wedding after a marriage on January 2 1835 They were born in Ohio and moved to Indiana before marriage settling on the Ward farm north of town They later moved here with many relatives unable to attend due to inclement weather Their children Henry Toledo Iowa John and Chas Baker City Oregon Edwin Canton China Arthur Ceylon and Mrs D W Hayes reside in various places
A Wednesday night blaze consumed the home of Mrs Borders on Mrs Rose Ann Winklepleck’s farm near Bunkum. The structure burned completely except for three feather beds. Thirty two dollars in cash also burned with no insurance.
Ovid Ricksecker nephew of Harve and Abner Smiley and well known to readers is married. He and his mother Mrs Jenni Ricksecker went to California last fall and returned. He married on December 21 at Dunsmuir and will live at Rocklin near Sacramento.
Sunday afternoon at five o'clock Richard D. Myers and Miss Clara Vickers were married at the M. E. parsonage in Ragiesville with Rev. Aaron Hogan officiating. Myers is a young farmer of Ragiesville and Clara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Vickers.
On Wednesday December 25 at 10 oclock Roy Ross Lacy and Mabel Grace Garrettson of Indianapolis were married at the brides home with friends present. Rev MB Hyde of Fletcher Place M E Church officiated. A fine dinner followed. The couple will reside at 619 Russell Ave in the capital city.
The Ben Hur lodge holds a large initiation night with twenty one new members taken in. After the initiatory work, refreshments were served and both old and new members socialized during the evening.
Madison township teachers honored their trustee Mr Mumaw with a fine rocking chair for his kindness and support. J K McCarter presented the gift and spoke, while Mr Mumaw expressed pride in the acknowledgment.
A Sunday afternoon fire damaged William Bignaman's Grove Street home near the railroad. The blaze arose from a spark from a switching engine and a live coal blown by southerly wind, but damages were small after quick containment.

The state teachers committee on wages outlines pay ranges for country, small and large city schools. Grades cover teachers and ward principals with varied salaries. high school roles peak at up to 1,500 for teachers and 3,000 for principals. Superintendent ranges extend to 6,000 in larger cities. Mel Fork of Hutchinson Kansas, opera the Journal for the next year.
George Baker a Newberry druggist drank heavily and fired at townspeople Saturday in a wild west episode. He shot at saloon keeper Pittman wounding him, then drove customers from a barber shop, demanded ammunition from Ed Scott and fired again. Baker was wounded in the arm and treated by doctors and X rays in Bloomfield Linton and Washington.
Stella O'Donald appointed teacher in the west end school to fill the vacancy caused by Luna Smoot's resignation. She previously taught in the primary department of South Washington schools and is described as an efficient instructor. Washington Democrat.
A Michigan farmer near Union City keeps apples pears peaches grapes etc in natural condition for years. He says apples and grapes from 1901 resemble this year's crop. Method is simple select well developed fruit with stems seal stem end with a match dry fruit wipe dry wrap in paper and store in a cool dry cellar.
A 17 year old, Jegan Scooner of Plymouth, was hunting rabbits when the rifle discharged after the hammer struck a twig during a climb. The bullet struck the boy in the neck and head, causing instant death.
