Rev John Winkelpleck Dies in Community
Rev John Winkelpleck, longtime United Brethren minister and local resident, died last Saturday at his home from apoplexy after years of poor health. Born February 18 1845 in Tuscarawas County Ohio, he married Sarah Fields in 1882 and raised two foster daughters. Survived by his wife and two brothers, his funeral was held Monday at the local church with burial at Walnut Hill.

Cassandra Goshorn Celebrates 95th Birthday in Plainville
Mrs. Cassandra Goshorn, likely the oldest in the community, celebrated her 95th birthday last Monday. Born in Ohio and arriving in the state in 1862, she resides with daughter on East Race Street and attended with most of her 15 children, six living, and their families.

Knights of Pythias District Meeting Held in Worthington
A large Indiana District Knights of Pythias gathering met at Worthington last Thursday afternoon with Greed Chanceillor presiding. The district, eight counties, 42 lodges and 3278 Knights, was praised as the best attended of eleven Indiana district meetings this season. Local attendees included R. J. McCallian and others.

Richard Meek longtime community resident dies at 72 from complications after long illness. Born in Ohio he moved to the state as a boy and raised eleven children with Eliza Hibbett, six surviving: William Edgar John Ollie Stella Corbin and Maude Adams. A farmer and machinist he was respected for portable steam driven machinery knowledge. Funeral in Scotland at 11 this morning with Rev. McCann presiding.

Typhoid Claims Life of Local Contractor Harvey Aishe
Harvey Aishe a well known community resident died Wednesday afternoon from typhoid fever. He was born in La Grange county and moved to Daviess County as a boy. He leaves a wife seven children and several siblings. He served on the Madison Township Cooperative Telephone Co board and was active in Modern Woodmen and J.O. R. M. He will be buried at Walnut Hill after services at Baile church this afternoon.

Scout Notes on Troop Conduct and Progress
The troop met last Monday to discuss problems and discipline. One scout was dropped for smoking in violation of Scout Law and state law. The group plans to address recreation at the next meeting and urges ideas for troop improvement. Two Tenderfoot Investiture Ceremonies were held, with most members below Second Class and urged to advance toward First Class.
Pythianism Anniversary to be Observed by Kapizhis Lodge
The Kapizhis of Pythias Lodge will celebrate the 57th anniversary of Pythianism on Saturday evening February 19. A special program will be presented at a local church with complete arrangements to be announced next week in the Journal. The public is invited to attend.
