The county central committee met at the courthouse in Washington and scheduled the county convention for March 25 to nominate candidates for Representative Sheriff Treasurer Coroner Surveyor Commissioner first district Commissioner second district county councilmen three at large and four in districts. Township tickets will be chosen March 28 in mass conventions by ballot. Delegates will be allocated one vote per ten votes or fraction of four or more for the secretary of state in the last election.

Bruner and Miss Edna B. Robinson united in marriage Monday morning at Rev. L. L. Schoonover’s home in Washington. Bruner, son of Wm Henry Bruner of Van Buren, is a known young farmer from Odon. Edna, daughter of Wm Henry Robinson, previously lived in Odon and has ties to Milo Smiley and Noah Fisher. She is sixteen. A notable coincidence is that both fathers share the same Christian name.

New Suits Filed in Daviess Circuit Court

Two civil actions noted in Daviess circuit court list Brock versus Sims with attorney E. T. Laughlin for the plaintiff and Bennett versus Sims also with attorney E. T. Laughlin. The suits name Hiram Sims as a defendant in both cases.

Ellis G. Burris of Washington Indiana son of Martin Burris of Odon joined the U S Army at the Vincennes recruiting station. He enlisted for the cavalry, passed an excellent physical, and was sent to Jefferson Barracks St Louis for preliminary training before joining the unit. He is to be congratulated on serving with the colors at home and abroad.

James Wade of Vincennes and Judge Charles Henderson of Bloomfield were selected as district delegates, with Gus C. Davis and William F. Brooks as alternates. James McDonald Released After Reformatory Stay

James McDonald, once tried and acquitted of murder, and later jailed for arson in his wife’s home, was released from the Indiana reformatory on Saturday. He married his wife again in Bedford that night after securing a license, with risk of return to confinement for any misconduct within the year.

Southern Indiana Employes to Get January Pay

Southern Indiana employees will receive their January wages on February 11 after the road raised funds to cover six month interest payments on bonds. The Walsh road paid bond interest, Girard Trust of Philadelphia underwriter will be satisfied, and deferred pay will be distributed. The official report says business is increasing and the road is on firm footing.

Madison township gravel road contract did not sell in the county commissioners court on Tuesday. The failed sale is tied to freight rate disputes involving the Southern Indiana railroad and a junction proceeding. Charles Sims two mile extension in Elmore, estimated at 6161, sold to Ira Cox for 3725 with estimated expenses of 3400 and total cost 6125.

A Republican township convention met Saturday with Richard Mccallian and E T Laughlin named as delegates to the Vincennes convention and authorized to name alternates. The group set the township nominating date for Saturday March 28 at 2 00 p m deliberations also noted an assessor and trustee to nominate.
