A gun misfire on East Rave Street wounded Miss Etta Atin, daughter of Tho. Atha, as a pistol fired by an older man in the Ketchesa home caused a near-fatal incident. Mrs. Ketches was knocked to the floor and the weapon discharged into a chair. medical aid arrived as the victim recovered.
Yazel found guilty amid court proceedings at Washington court where defense argues force and appeals. Defense attorney Sears of Kinerman and others signaled intent to appeal as Yazel suffers from paralysis while bond set at 200 dollars amid legal contention.
Tomy the Cor viet a comedy drama staged by teachers and pupils at Elvora High School last Saturday night drew a capacity audience at the opera house. Proceeds fund Domestic Science and Normal Training departments at the high school.
The February term of the Daviess circuit court convened with Wm. A. Kelly of Harrison township appointed bailiff. The session began Monday morning.

Mr Flint and Mr Kyie of the Floor Kyie Telephone Co went to Montgomery on Wednesday to remodel and repair their telephone plant They intend to move the exchange to a new building with better facilities to enlarge and improve it for handling their growing business.
The town board approves a twenty year grant to the Flint-Kyle Telephone Company to build operate and maintain a telephone system in Odeon with rights to poles wires and equipment across streets and public grounds. The vote includes repealing part of a railroad lighting ordinance and retention of lights on three streets. Anlerses is re-elected secretary of the Board of Health and several town officials are approved for service payments.
Cletis B. Skomp formerly of this city wed Sliss Hil and Kern of Bedford in a home ceremony Tuesday. The event was performed by a clergyman with close family present. Skomp, son of Win Shomp, lived northwest of Oden before moving to Bedford with his father a few years ago. They will reside on a farm near Galesburg Illinois after visiting Mrs Boyd.
Last Wednesday the Sunday school ladies from the Christian church gathered at the Lane home near noon to honor Mrs A A Lane on her forty fourth birthday. After a splendid repast the day continued with musi cte and social chatter. The Southern Indiana Poultry Association met for its first regular session since the show at the Odeon Theater. A large attendance heard reports on the last show, which ended with over 2000 in the treasury and all bills paid. Officers were re-elected except secretary, to be filled at the next meeting, and a committee was named to set dates for the next show.
In honor of Mrs Roo TY Hayes seventy third birthday a surprise was held at Mi Viel Mes HLOE Wardan on West Main Street. Attendees included members of her Sunday school class and several ladies named in the church circle. Refreshments of cake and sherbet were served.
The M E Sunday School class called the Gleaners met at Martha Sommers home on Tuesday evening February 2. A lively program featured Happy Gleaners written by Miss Sommers with seventeen present and guests Miss Eula Warren and Miss Ruth Hud.
The Iron Drag Co will receive a car load of 60 barrels of lime and sulphur solution this week, the largest shipment to OdOn. By purchasing in this quantity they offer farmers a discount of one dollar per barrel to wet fruit for better quality and yield.
The note extols a DeLaval Cream Separator as superior, claiming no rival. It cites Keck and Cauughey as proponents of adopting the device.
G H Gilpatrick has word from the government that his bid won the bid for Odon’s new post office. Construction proceeds rapidly with a brick building east of Odon Drug Co on East Main Street. The modern interior features include a large lobby, glass prism windows, and Keyless boxes, with completion planned for the first of the month.
The United Brethren Church led by Pastor T A Garriott lists Sunday 9 30 am Sunday school Junior C K 2 pm Otterbein Guild 3 pm Christian Endeavor 6 pm preaching 10 30 am and 7 pm. A quarterly conference business session is set for Monday at 6 pm. Supt W E Snyder will preach and assist in the meeting next week.
Geo. A. Coyle, a prosperous farmer southwest of town, reported a phenom to this office this week: two ears of corn in one husk. The ears are of good average length and not attached to each other, with a single husk enclosing both completely.
Mrs Guy Overman and her young daughter return to Terre Haute after visiting her parents Mr and Mrs A M Keck yesterday.
