Miranda McCarter Dies From Cancer At 70
Miranda Caroline McCarter of near Odon died Monday morning from stomach cancer after a long illness. She was 70, wife of Wm F McCarter, mother of nine, and a longtime church member. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the U B Church in Eaglesville with burial in Radlesville Cemetery.

Fire at Herron School House Near Odon
A fire struck the Herron School house four miles north of Odon Monday morning. Teacher Miss Dora York and the pupils saved the building after a bucket brigade carried water from Chas. Freed's location about a hundred yards away. A large roof hole forced dismissal for several days while repairs were made. officials suspect a defective flue caused the blaze.

The Thanksgiving program and play at the local high school fulfilled expectations with a large audience in the auditorium. Thanksgiving Day Observed With Large Dinners And Hunters
Thanksgiving was celebrated with many dinners and visitors in town. Turkeys were expensive so most families chose chicken or duck while the rabbit crop boomed. a large 30 acre herd east of town yielded over 200 rabbits in two weeks. The Methodist Church held the service with Rev. Ernest Roberts delivering the sermon. Local businesses closed 10 to 4 with no reported casualties from overeating or hunting.

Jasonville Man Dies After Weeklong Illness
John W. Critchlow of Jasonville died Wednesday morning at his home from pneumonia fever after a week of illness. A 56 year old carpenter, he was brother to Geo Critchlow and Mrs L Chestnut, married with nine children. Funeral at his residence followed by burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
