Secretary Herbert is aboard the Dolphin. Hampton Roads fleet vessels anchor in the lower bay as salutes echo in the Narrows. The Dolphin clears quarantine near Whitman as 23 ships head north.
The Liberty Bell departs Broad Street Station at 10:05 Tuesday morning for Chicago. A party of forty including Mayor Stuart, the Joint Workers fair committee and city officials and newspaper men ride the bell car, a combination car, three sleepers and a dining car. Municipal officials return in two weeks.

Fort Monroe Va April 23 crowds witnessed a major naval pageant as the American fleet led by Philadelphia and including Newark Atlanta San Francisco and Chicago sailed on to Newport News. British German Dutch and Russian ships followed in two lines past Fort Monroe with cheers as torpedo boat Cushing overtook the line.
The center of the Card Electric Motor and Dynamo Co building under construction on Hamilton and Broadway collapsed Monday morning. Fourteen workers fell into a forty foot cellar. George Hull died instantly and several others were fatally or seriously injured. The site rests on made ground with a central stone pillar supporting iron rafters.
New York April 26 reports detail the formal dedication of a national flagpole on the Navesink Highlands. The ceremony featured Mrs. Stafford with the original Stars and Stripes from the Battle of the Serapis, Captain Caulkins, Win G C McDowell, and Adlai Stevenson, with a 40 foot flag replacement and salutes by the Miantonomoh and New Jersey National Guard. The event culminated in an address by McAdoo and the singing of America.
