Yesterday afternoon at four at the bride’s parents home in Bunkum, Walter Herron and Grace Kinnaman were married by Rev. J. W. Gilley of the WU. B. church. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Herron and a respected young man. the bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wa H Kinnaman, is described as pleasant and sensible. They will reside in the township after the ceremony.
In Elnora the Richardson Yatel saloon dispute ends with remonstrators winning and the county commissioners ruling to make Elmore township a dry community. Antisaloon forces strengthened after a contentious campaign including a trip to Washington by many signatories. Blavra is expected to become dry soon.
Farmer E C Collins reports loss after his hired hand Jacob Arford kept his pocketbook with 850 and five bottles of beer during a fishing trip. Collins swore out an affidavit. Arford’s whereabouts are unknown. In Loogootee Harry Hubner, a young businessman, died by suicide at home after a secret marriage. Pearl Camarogs and Pamie Messick left Munday for Indianapolis.
Sunday afternoon the Christian church hosts the Sith anniversary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Rev. C. H. Buchanan delivers the principal address as special music is performed. Public is invited to attend.
The Gdon schools close today as students anticipate a fishing crop and a mix of sadness for leaving the beloved school. Yesterday the graduating class held Class Day in the high school room with speeches, music, and plans for the May 2 commencement at Danner’s Opera House. Admission is 20 cents general, 2 cents for reserved seats, with tickets on sale tomorrow at Danner’s.
Last Saturday night two tickets were placed in the field at Elnora for the May election. The Citizens ticket represents the anti saloon element and the People ticket advocates liquor distribution. L D Vickers and family of Odon visited Sunday. Bill Bechtel and Tom Phipps plastered at Scotland this week. Miss Bessie Harman of Odon stayed with Misses Myrtle and Minnie Hubbard. Sam Scott and son Victor returned to Haineis Saturday. Mr and Mrs Ed Stotts and Mr and Mrs Walter Stevenson of Odon visited Misses Sarah and Ethel Hardy early in the week. W H Wallick James York John Hubbard and R D Stotts were in Washington Tuesday. Since they paid their tax it is unnecessary to say they came home sober.
