John B. Slater a Washington real estate dealer and insurance agent died unexpectedly from organic heart disease at his home Saturday morning. Born August 30, 1846 in Petersburg he was the son of Rev. Francis S. Slater a pioneer Baptist minister. He served in the Civil War with the Seventeenth Tuoluma volunteers and married Miss Mary Ferguson of Maryland.
