The census lists Odon at 1,064 residents, up 141 since ten years ago, with locals voicing dissatisfaction. Elnora records 961, up 53. Loogootee 2,184, up 771. Worthington 1,782, up 284. Petersburg 2,173, up 422. Sullivan 1,115, up 462.

Two solar eclipses will blot out the sun in parts of the United States and beyond. An April 28 eclipse will be visible in most of the U S except the north and northeast, with the path extending from Philadelphia to Milwaukee to Portland. An October 22 annular eclipse will be visible in Asia and Australia but not in the United States.
The Daviess County Board of Commissioners approved A. O. Fulkerson's request for an assistant to the county superintendent. Fulkerson says the duties require two people. state law allows an assistant for 120 days at $3 per day.
Election to fill the resigned road Supervisor J. T. Laughlin's seat at the Kent school house in road district No. 1 is set for Wednesday April 19 at 1 PM. Voters will choose a successor as Madison township conducts elections.
Judge Fortune denied a new trial for Otto Griffith convicted of mistreating Miss Bernice Laughlin near the Cedar Grove school house in Vigo county. Griffith receives a two to one year term in the Indiana Reformatory with the judge stating he does not believe his testimony and that the facts support the young woman’s account.
New sanitary school laws require school buildings to meet specified sanitary standards and impose fines of at least $50 for authorities who fail to enforce them. If construction costs were paid, funds must be returned to the school fund. The rules ban employing teachers or janitors with certain diseases and require teachers to send home ill or unclean children.

The county levies five percent of the dog tax for the hydrophobia fund to provide free Pasteur treatment to those unable to pay. The hydrophobia law takes effect April 25 requiring muzzling and quarantine of dogs when ordered, with authority to kill noncompliant animals.
Ray Casey, Tevansville High School student with Van Buren township relatives, contributes freelance reporting to the Evansville Courier during leisure hours and is earning praise. He has been offered a position by the Evansville paper after graduation and may attend college.
