Local notes report movements of residents from Zelma to W T Alexander's farm and others visiting Washington. Several residents travel Wednesday from Eaglesville, Van Buren township, and Indianapolis. The Elnora schools closed last Friday. The torn election nears and new goods are advertised at Diefendorf's with wedding tips from Keck's. James Churchman caught a seven pound bass at Indian Pond.
Gwarntey's Fiza Coner appears with Elmer Pershing and Rev J D Hartcock among local visitors from Boris City Greencastle and Washington. Ed Cooley injures toe in cross tie accident while Sey mour work nearby. Mrs Mary Shiveley buys W H Sendall residence south Spring. Various residents travel to Indianapolis Terre Haute Bloomington Bogard and other towns for study business and social events.
John Straw and family visit relatives in town while Uncle Mike Wallick arrives from Elnora. Seward Smiley comes from Van Buren township and John Spencer visits Tearsday. A. M. Dicks and Chas. McNeeley form a blacksmithing and repair partnership at the Power house. VU Missionary Society plans Lilly Tea at Danner's hall Thursday April 9 at 2 pm.
Sven Diefendorf who has operated the S. I. at Eloora is transferred to Latta. Ralph Gantz takes Diefendorf’s place. Stacy O Dell succeeds Gantz here and will learn to be an operator and baggage smasher.
Miss Mary Harman, eighth grade teacher, resigns to enter the State Normal at Terre Haute. H Kutch, noted township teacher, elected to fill vacancy and began teaching Monday.
Saturday evening Albert S. Boyd hitched a horse to a buggy and began toward town. A broken hold-back strap caused the buggy to run away. Boyd was thrown, bruising his leg, and the buggy was wrecked.

Rev J W Gilley united Irvin Smiley and Myrtle Kelsey on a Wednesday afternoon at the U B parsonage Grove street. Smiley is son of Seward Smiley, a leading Van Buren township family man. The bride Myrtle is daughter of Dan Kelsey, noted in their township, and has taught several schools.
A house one mile north of Burns City owned by Marion Lay was destroyed by fire on Tuesday while Mr. Lay was away and Mrs. Lay in Bedford. Neighbors found the blaze too far advanced to save any belongings. no insurance covered the building or contents.
Miss Mary Alford, president of the Y. P. C. U. at Pleasant Hill, was pleasantly surprised Friday night by friends who presented her a fine rocking chair. The gathering included a large party at her home with music and social chat, recognizing her years of service.

The Madison Township common school graduates were honored Tuesday evening at Good Hope church. The crowd filled the venue despite some talking. W. A. Wallace distributed diplomas, Rev. M. S. Taylor gave the benediction. Graduates listed: Maud Thompson, Stanley Walter, Ross O'Donald, Harry Winklepleck, Coy Christenberry, Edwin Winklepleck, Nola Boyd, Mattie Sommers, Dallas Boyd, Nellie Shaffer, Lola Sommers, Edith Roberts, Phoebe Smallwood, Lulu Smallwood.
