Supreme Court to hear unreasonable search case in pregnancy drug tests
In Charleston Lori Griffin was jailed after testing positive for cocaine during premature labor. The Supreme Court will decide whether hospital drug testing of pregnant women and reporting results to police violates the Fourth Amendment. The program led to 30 arrests among 253 positives over five years, ending in 1994 after federal funding threats.
