State agencies merge into four health and human services departments
Texans will see few service changes as state consolidates 12 agencies into four under the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The Departments of State Health Services and Aging and Disability Services launch new operations, with offices remaining in place for now. Officials say front line staff will not be laid off and emphasize improved coordination of health needs across mental and physical care.
