Dynegy to lay off 780 workers in trading exit
Dynegy Inc will cut about 780 jobs, including 600 at Houston headquarters, as it exits energy trading and marketing. The layoffs reduce the workforce to around 4,600 worldwide, with 775 in Houston, as the company shifts to a decentralized structure while retaining natural gas liquids, power generation, regulated energy and communications. The move aims to save about $100 million amid Enron fallout and weak energy markets.
