Crane County debates floating holidays amid emotions
Crane County officials moved to ease tensions a week after a 4-1 vote to make Martin Luther King Jr and Veterans Day optional for county employees. Commissioner Ellis Lane, the sole dissenter, left the court meeting angrily stating the court was damned. The vote followed a survey of 50 workers showing 21 chose MLK Day as floating, 14 chose Veterans Day, and two preferred keeping both as mandatory. The court will keep offices open on those days. employees may choose floating holidays instead.
