LA County workers heed archbishop plea to return to work
Thousands of Los Angeles County employees paused a strike after Cardinal Roger Mahony urged a truce to aid the poor and vulnerable. Union leaders representing 47,000 workers halted the walkout to pursue face to face negotiations, amid a separate 27 day transit strike and wage dispute with the county.
