Supreme Court leaves Texas blues case bound by damages ruling
The Supreme Court refused to free Collectibles Records from damages for unauthorized use of Texas blues musicians names and photographs. The 5th Circuit upheld $27,000 for misusing names and likenesses and $122,500 against Collectibles’ co defendant, with the court ruling state law claims are not pre empted by federal copyright law.
