In Cleveland the roof of East High School's octagonal gym collapsed during gusty winds, injuring three students aged 14 and 15 with minor injuries. An adult also received treatment. the building was evacuated and closed for the weekend as investigators probe the cause amid recent heavy rain. A witness described feeling like an earthquake as ceiling tiles fell.
Sylvain Laverriere a 19 year old from Montreal plunged 65 floors to death after reportedly telling a guard he did not want to live. He climbed over 86th floor barriers around 9 15 p m Thursday and fell to a ledge on the 21st floor. Police said he arrived from Quebec Wednesday and had recently broken up with his girlfriend.
Police say Centennial High School students abducted Blu the bulldog mascot, forced a fight with a Mojave dog, then left Blu tied on the 50 yard line. Five Mojave students were arrested on felony cruelty and theft charges, with more arrests expected as the investigation continues. Blu was found Sept 28 wounded and recovering as Centennial defeated Mojave 24 6.
