More than 100 insurance company executives pledged to devote resources to tackling unemployment especially among minority youth. The move, spearheaded by firms like Prudential Metropolitan Life and Aetna, follows a Chicago meeting and supports Reagan’s voluntary program with no specific fund amount yet set. The industry has previously spent billions on urban redevelopment and social programs, with last year totaling about 2 billion.
