Huntsman Odessa plant audits eyed amid health fears and layoffs
Odessa NAACP leader Gene Collins touted an independent environmental performance audit for Huntsman Polymers as a step to clear air and prompt compliance. Huntsman executives say the audit will uncover needed fixes while noting the plant operates in the red due to oil and gas prices and remains Odessa's largest private employer with 700 plus workers and 200 contractors. The case traces to TNRCC findings, 1999 complaints, and a reopened settlement after local protests.
