Sholan Farms Sold To City To Save Orchard In Leominster
In Leominster Massachusetts the last apple orchard in Johnny Appleseed’s hometown will not be bulldozed. The owner of Sholan Farms agreed to sell the 169 acre property including the 52 acre orchard to the city for 4.75 million dollars rather than develop 161 lots. A citizens group collected 4000 signatures urging preservation and hopes to keep a sagging barn and create hiking trails. Mayor Dean J Mazzarella signed the sale agreement with owner Paul Possick on Friday.
