Penguins find happy life in Sea World Antarctic plan
SAN DIEGO AP Penguins at Sea World thrive in a refrigerated 38 by 52 foot room with four tons of crushed ice. Biologist Scott Drieschman says the penguins adapt to simulated Antarctic seasons using lights and temperature. The project aims to create a self sustaining penguin colony and a commercial attraction with a $2 million facility, potentially open late next year. The colony, gathered by Hubbs Sea World Institute and NSF funded, features adèles and emperor penguins living together while researchers study their behavior.
