Pope faces unfinished tasks for next leader of church
A city bulletin notes that the upcoming pope inherits doctrinal rifts over sexual issues and reforms from Vatican II, with divisions in the United States, Western Europe, and Latin America. It cites defections, a liquidity concern, traditionalist backlash, calls for stronger bishops' role, and debates on contraception and abortion.
