Teen juries banished in Alaska by Havelock decision

In Fairbanks Alaska AP Alty Gen John Havelock halted juvenile juries. He refused to allow district attorneys to try cases with jurors under 19 despite a 16 year old being acquitted by a teen jury at Lathrop High School. The judge and principal criticized the ruling deeming it unfair while teens argued it violated rights.

Inmates seize Rahway State Prison Warden and guards

Rioting inmates at Rahway State Prison held Warden Hugh Vukcevich and five guards as hostages. A sixth guard was freed as a go between urged officials not to storm. Eleven guards were injured, three seriously, as authorities waited and considered actions. The inmates demanded a meeting with Gov. Cahill and spoke of Attica as a warning.

Fine Weather Predicted Across Odessa Through Weekend

Indian summer pattern lingers in Odessa with lingering fog and cloudy to partly cloudy skies. Mild afternoons and cool nights continue into Sunday or Monday as a cooler front approaches from Nebraska to Wyoming. Hijacker Leaps From Northwest Jet With 200000

FBI says the Seattle to Reno hijacker parachuted from the Boeing 127 after hijacking the plane near Seattle. The jet carried 36 passengers and two dogs. four crew remained aboard as the craft landed in Reno. Officials report no sign of the hijacker, money, or parachute.
