Odessa Superintendent to meet top officials after Ector High School senior Bobby Watson struck a field judge and kicked him during a District 2-3A game at Seminole. The official, Gary Burk of Midland, suffered a concussion and two cracked ribs. UIL will conduct a formal probe, potential hearing in Odessa, and consider action for the school. Watson apologized saying he lost his cool after harsh calls.

Funeral services are planned at 2:30 p.m. for Mr. and Mrs. Bernice Baker who died in a garage near their Coleman home. Judge Walter Holt ruled murder suicide with a 16 gauge shotgun. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery. The Bakers, born in 1893 and 1896, left survivors including children and siblings across several Texas towns. Also noted are services for William P. Keene of Pecos, 82, who died of a heart attack. burial at Fairview Cemetery and a large North Texas family. A two-day-old Cranelife daughter Shelli Fay Peoples died in Midland Memorial Hospital. parents and grandparents are listed as survivors.

Funeral mass set for Anicasio Pompa at St. Josephs Catholic Church at 4 p.m. Monday. He died Saturday at Permian General in Andrews. Rosary tonight at 7 p.m. in Paul A. Rix Funeral Home chapel. Survived by two daughters Martha Cepaldeda and Reyes Chavez, son Ofolfino Pompa, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pompa was a native of Mexico and had lived in Odessa 26 years.
