WASP honors clash with Arlington amid Sweetwater reunion
The WASP story spans decades from World War II service at Sweetwater to later Arlington burial rights. Jacqueline Cochran described their work as the Army’s “dishwashing” jobs. 1102 women ferried aircraft, trained pilots, and faced unequal benefits. The WASP act aims to recognize their service as veterans. A reunion in Sweetwater highlights enduring legacy as only 104 of the original 1102 remain.
