The human caused blaze had burned 7.5 square miles with no injuries or structures reported, while pre-evacuation warnings remained for about 3,200 residents. Fire commanders aimed to cut the fire off at the canyon’s northeast edge as 500 firefighters worked Thursday with 200 more expected, aided by calmer winds and higher humidity.
