ECISD posts TAKS gains and retake for fifth graders
Ector County ISD offers a second TAKS math chance for fifth graders districtwide at elementary schools. Districtwide gains in science show improvements across most grades and campuses, with Ireland Elementary at 83 percent fifth grade science passing, up from 53 percent last year. Eighth grade science ranges from 43 percent at Crockett to 80 percent at Nimitz. Bonham 59 percent. Bowie 71 percent. Hood 61 percent. Ector 69 percent. Bush presses border plan with 6000 National Guard units

Fatal shooting after scuffle outside south Odessa nightclub
A fight outside Billy's Zodiac Club at 400 S. Dixie Blvd in Odessa led to a fatal shooting of 19-year-old Adam Marshall. Survivor Tyrone Thomas, 31, told medics he heard gunfire as he walked away from the scuffle. Marshall died at 2:25 a.m. Services for Marshall are pending. Thomas was also wounded.
