Mineral taxes rise in Ector County as city oil output falls
Mineral property values in Ector County remain the largest share of tax base, while Odessa city limits see oil production decline. Kirk Edwards of Las Colinas Energy Partners notes drilling targets and fewer restrictions outside the city limit. Real estate and commercial growth drive a 10.9 percent rise in Odessa's taxable market value in 2014.
