Inmate Flat-Screen TVs Arrive in Oregon Prisons
Convicted felons in Oregon can buy seven inch flat-screen televisions for their cells, costing about 300 dollars and funded by inmate wages. About 25 inmates across 12 prisons have adopted the new in cell TVs, with eligibility tied to clean conduct and discipline records. The program aims to curb conflicts and improve behavior while offering a practical, securer option than bulky tube sets. Oregon officials note the unique policy sets flat screens apart and plans extend to all higher security prisons.
