Inmate’s escape bid short-lived
Kiari Jernigan, a 17 year old inmate held on an attempted auto burglary charge, bolted from 161st Judicial District Court during a probation revocation hearing. Deputy Paul Carr restrained him at gunpoint after a 10 minute chase, ending the escape near South Sam Houston Avenue and West Pearl Street. Jernigan was recaptured and returned to jail, with a new hearing date not yet set.
