Fort Kent Maine endured its worst flooding on record as 3 inches of rain plus snowmelt pushed the St John River to 28.2 feet, flooding Main Street and forcing evacuations on both sides of the U S Canadian border. The river was expected to crest at 31 feet, four feet above the 1979 record, according to National Weather Service forecasters.
