UTPB tackles campus sexual misconduct survey findings
UTPB researchers report on student experiences with sexual assault and harassment since enrolling at a UT System school. The fall survey drew 887 respondents from 4,690 invited, with 14 percent reporting harassment by a student and 43 percent of victims and 56 percent of perpetrators linked to alcohol or drugs. Many victims believed reports would be taken seriously, while stigma and embarrassment hinder reporting. Campus resources include counseling, a complaint portal, and a bystander intervention program, with efforts to improve online access for online students and extensive outreach through orientation and training for faculty and staff.
