Saturn sized planets found beyond the solar system
A team led by Geoffrey W. Marcy and R. Paul Butler reports two Saturn sized extrasolar planets orbiting stars HD46375 and 79 Cetis over 100 light years away. The planets are close to their stars with three and 75 day orbits, likely gas giants about 70 to 95 times Earth mass, not suitable for life.

Senate weighs 10 billion relief of marriage penalty
Senate Republicans push adding two changes to ease the marriage penalty. They seek to double the 28 percent bracket for married couples and raise the earned income tax credit income cutoff by 2 500 dollars for lower income couples. The plan would lift the 10 year cost to about 250 billion while Democrats push alternatives including letting couples choose filing status and a 500 dollar credit for the lower earning spouse.
