The City of Odessa Parks and Recreation hosts the Easter Spring Fling at UTPB venues. A 9 a.m. 5K starts near Pavilion 5 6, with registration at 8 a.m. An 11 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt unfolds at UTPB Soccer Fields, featuring age brackets prizes crafts games food and photos with Peter Cottontail. Sheriff says Ector jail remains noncompliant report shows fixes
The Ector County Detention Center remains listed as noncompliant with Texas jail standards though corrections have begun. Sheriff Mark Donaldson said a Feb 16 noncompliance followed an October inmate complaint about treatment and a 25.5 hour restraint incident. A March 2 surprise inspection added 10 total demerits after three more infractions and falsified paperwork on rounds surfaced. Corrections included a booking area training session and disciplinary actions, with another inspector’s visit planned.
