Home Buyers Favor Space Energy Efficiency and Quiet Neighborhoods
A National Association of Home Builders survey of 2,177 families who bought new homes in 1978–79 shows buyers want larger homes with a median size of 1,886 square feet, energy saving features, and proximity to work. More than half would pay for insulation and storm windows, while most use less air conditioning. Single women are a fast growing buyer segment as credit eases and marriages slow.
