Calusa tribe may have surviving descendants in Cuba
Florida researcher John Worth cites church records from Guanabacoa Havana showing a Calusa woman in 1729 and 1731 gave birth to two girls after fleeing Florida three centuries ago. He aims to trace the girls to possible Calusa descendants, acknowledging slim chances but continuing search. The Caluas built shell mound settlements felled by development and road work.
