West Texas Relays boost Odessa economy to near a million
The 62nd West Texas Relays drew 64 teams and 1,669 participants, with officials projecting a total economic impact likely over 1 million dollars. Hotel, dining and shopping spend drive the bulk of the effect, excluding gas and gate receipts. Co sponsors include Ector County ISD and Odessa Convention & Visitors Bureau with corporate support from Son Drive-In and the Odessa American. The event honors three longtime workers Roy L Dunn Fred Gray and Gerald Perry.
