Iran council offers militants option on held Americans
The Revolutionary Council told the militants at the U S Embassy to allow a United Nations commission to interview the American held people or to hand them to the Iranian Foreign Ministry. After a four hour Saturday night meeting the council announced the order amid collapse of a transfer arrangement. Tehran Radio quoted militants saying the fate of the held must be decided by the new Iranian parliament next month. A spokesman said no decision would be made today. The council noted the best place for the held people was inside the embassy.
