MMEX Resources plans Pecos County refinery in Texas

Austin based MMEX Resources Corp unveiled plans to build a 450 million crude oil refinery about 20 miles northeast of Fort Stockton in Pecos County. The 250 acre facility aims to export diesel and gasoline by rail to western Mexico and South America, with 100 permanent jobs if funded and permitted. The company has reported ongoing losses and warned it may not remain viable without new funding, regulatory approvals, and capital. Construction targeted for early 2018 with operation in 2019 pending financing and permits.

Board weighs new storage building for district textbooks

Ector County ISD trustees discuss a proposed 45,000 square foot storage and warehouse building at 2415 Catalina Drive to replace the current 10,854 square foot facility at 619 W. Golder Ave. The plan includes a 10 year lease at $14,500 monthly starting June 1, with 42,000 square feet of warehouse space. District CFO cites $174,000 annual lease cost, while some board members favor building or buying. Superintendent may pursue selling current properties to fund the project amid changes to textbook adoptions and campus space constraints.
