Oil closes above thirty four as markets surge on supply fears
Crude oil futures jumped 6 percent to settle at 34.13 a barrel on the NYMEX after climbing as high as 34.20, the highest since 1990. A halt in Nigerian loadings and rifts within OPEC fueled the rally amid tight supply concerns. API data later showed rising gasoline and crude stocks, tempering the rally.
