California Neighbor Portrait of Pentagon Shooter Bedell
California neighbors knew little of John Patrick Bedell, a 36 year old San Jose State electrical engineering graduate. He suffered bipolar disorder and anti-government beliefs, leading to a deadly Pentagon shooting that left two officers wounded and him fatally shot. His family sought treatment amid longterm mental illness. Bedell lived in a gated golf community. his mother directed Gavilan College nursing, his father worked as a financial adviser. He posted about conspiracy theories and libertarian economics and proposed funding smart weapons research for the Pentagon in 2004.
