PUC approves Reliant price increase and new rules on gas-linked rates
The Public Utility Commission approved Reliant Energy Retail Services 8.2 percent rate rise, adding about 7.65 per month for 1000 kWh. It also widened price-increase triggers to 5 percent over 20 days, with 10 percent after Nov 15. Regulators say the change shields customers from temporary fuel spikes while linking adjustments to natural gas costs. TXU serves 2.7 million Texas households.
