Indictments of Two Odessa Bankers Highlight FBI Probe

Former Odessa bankers Melvin Max Malone and unnamed co-defendant Tapp face federal indictments on charges of embezzlement and misapplication of bank funds. Malone allegedly misappropriated 451000 dollars and Tapp 384000 dollars from 1983 to 1984. Both men, now in Lubbock and Plano respectively, were to surrender to authorities as part of a widening investigation into banking practices in the Permian Basin.
