Sessions recuses himself on Russia probe amid contacts
Attorney General Jeff Sessions agreed to recuse from any investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election after revelations he spoke with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the campaign. He said he should have been clearer in testimony but denied any intent to mislead. The White House emphasized confidence in Sessions while revelations tied Kislyak to conversations at the July Republican National Convention and to Kushner and Flynn meetings at Trump Tower. Flynn was later fired for misleading Pence about Kislyak contacts.
