Blockade Ends as Baba Amr Falls to Syrian Forces
After days of bombardment, Baba Amr in Homs fell to government troops as rebels withdrew. The area faced catastrophic humanitarian conditions with power outages and shortages of food water and medical care while aid convoys were blocked from entering and international calls for access continued. UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon urged immediate access for aid workers and warned the situation was intolerable alongside Red Cross and UN appeals.
