The Family Resiliency Center of the Permian Basin hosts Survivors of Death by Own Action Support Group meetings from 5 to 6 p.m. today March 16 and on April 13 and 27. Participation is limited to those who have lost a family member friend or coworker to death by own action. observers or survivors of attempts are not eligible. Odessa Police Department participated in the Running 4 Heroes event, joining officers and supporters to honor fallen heroes and raise funds. More details and results are on Page 2A.
The drive thru vaccine clinic at Ratliff Stadium operates for second or booster doses for residents who had a first dose there between January 20 and February 10. Free clinics at Ratliff and at Medical Center Hospital Urgent Care Centers have surpassed 50,000 vaccines, with 3,001 first doses given on Sunday, the final day for first doses at Ratliff.
The Permian Basin endured unprecedented winter conditions in February with 14 record lows and a 5.3 inch snowfall on February 14. Meteorologist Jim DeBerry of the National Weather Service in Midland notes the average February temperature was 40.4 degrees and cites records from Feb 11 to 19 including a record low of minus two degrees on Feb 15.
Odessa City Council will hold a virtual 3 p.m. work session to discuss approving a 1.5 million Financial Assistance Grant from the Odessa Development Corporation for the Ellen Noel Art Museum. The grant would fund a 12 million renovation and expansion funded mainly by a capital campaign led by Austin Keith.
