Board approves District of Innovation committee
The ECISD board voted unanimously to form a 17 member District of Innovation committee, delegating authority to Superintendent Tom Crowe to notify the TEA of the plan. The panel includes six teachers, four administrators, five parents and two Education Foundation reps. The district seeks flexibilities such as starting the school year earlier, hiring non certified CTE teachers, and using student performance in evaluations. Public comment from TSTA expressed concerns, but board members supported careful drafting to protect the plan.
