Senate GOP shifts to boost veteran health care funding
Senate Republicans moved quickly to cover a $1 billion shortfall in veterans health care as wounded troops return from Iraq and Afghanistan. They planned to add about $15 billion to veterans programs, countering Democratic efforts to increase the budget and blocking a $1.4 billion Democratic amendment.
