Microsoft breakup reversed by federal appeals court ruling
A 7-0 decision by the U S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit overturned the court ordered breakup of Microsoft. The panel found the trial judge tainted the case with derogatory remarks about Bill Gates, narrowed the antitrust issues, and sent the matter to a new judge to decide penalties while noting the company acted anticompetitively. Regulators may seek further action or settlement at the Supreme Court or lower court.
