A University of Colorado study of 783 primary care doctors shows 65 percent call annual checkups necessary and nearly 90 percent perform them, despite the US Preventive Services Task Force finding little evidence these exams benefit healthy adults. The survey notes doctors often order CBCs and other tests with uncertain benefit, prompting calls for more selective screening.
